In 1954 President Eisenhower submitted a portrait of George Washington that he had painted to Hallmark to reproduce as a Christmas gift to his White House staff. Painting was a hobby to the President. Many marveled at Eisenhower's ability as a Portrait painter. Hallmark reproduced 1300 of the Washington gift prints. It was the second in a series of Presidential portraits. In 1953 painted Abraham LIncoln to give to his staff at Christmas.
