Washington from the South Portico was Mts. Johnson's favorite nostalgic view, especially in the springtime. She recalled thet, "this beautiful setting in the midst of the rushing city" provided her with a "constant serenity." It became the subject of the gift print given to the White House staff in 1968. The White House ordered 3680 Christmas prints of the watercolor by Robert Laessig from American Greetings. 14 x 18 inches.
