1976 Gerald Ford Christmas Card featured the painting, "Going to Church" by George Durrie.It beautifully captured the mood of winter in Durrie's native Connecticut. Reproductions of this work were widley circulated, making it a familiar scene to 19th century Americans. It was the third Durrie painting that the Fords chose to use with their Christmas greetings. Bordered in green and gold, 35000 Christmas cards were sent out in 1976.
