1964 Johnson Christmas Print

The 1964 Johnson Gift Print was a watercolor created by Robert H. Laessig, an artist for American Greetings. He painted a Southwestern willow - the tree the Johnsons would plant on the south lawn later that fall - set against the backdrop of the White House. Laessig imagined it as a mighty oak the way future presidents would view it in later years. American Greetings reproduced 4,500 of the paintings on a 14x18" textured paper. The gift was presented in a folder with a blind embossed presidential seal on the cover. Read the whole story in Mary Seeley's well documented book, Season's Greetings from the White House.
