2001 State Dining Room in the White House seats as many as 140 guests. Originally it was much smaller and served as a drawing room, office and cabinet room. Andrew Jackson named it the State Dining Room. A letter written by John Adams in 1800 were carved into the mantle, below George P. Healey's portrait of Abraham Lincoln.
