Commemorative Challenge Coin designed for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. June 6, 1944-2014. Limited Edition from Normandie. Retired. . Double sided coin. The gold side of the coin depicts the armed brave young soldiers who landed on the beaches and scaled the cliffs to defeat the Germans and bring freedom to France. A 1/2 inch "V" is placed under the soldier with a banner and the words Victory. The reverse colorful side shows the American, British, French and Canadian Flags in the center surrounded by the names of the beaches: Omaha, Sword, Gold, Juno and Utah. the words, D-Day, 70th and 6 6 1944 grace this side. The Challenge coin is protected in a plastic set in a suede inset. It is housed in a 3 1/2" square black box enscribed with the words in gold: D-Day Edition Limitee 70 Anniversaire 1944 - 2014.
