The Clintons arrived at the White House with a black and white cat, named “Socks”, a domestic shorthair. Socls was the First Pet during their first term. When Chelsea left for college, President Clinton got a Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Buddy – named for one of his favorite uncles. Socks was not thrilled about Buddy’s arrival. Following an encounter that resulted in a good swat to Buddy from Socks, the two reached a compromise and did their best to get along. Hillary said “ It wasn’t until Socks arrived with his toy mouse and Buddy came with his rawhide bone that this house became a home. Pets have a way of doing that.” Do you have a Labrador Retriever?
