2014 Official U.S. Congressional Holiday Ornament celebrates the 50th anniversary of the lighting of the Capitol Christmas tree on the west lawn of the Capitol. Although a tree was purchased and decorated in 1919, the modern tree lighting tradtion began in 1964 when a live 24-foot Douglas fir was planted and decorated. The octagonal shape of the 2014 ornament is directly derived from the mosaic tile floor in the Small Senate Rotunda.Crafted of brass with a 24 karat gold finish. Gift boxed. Made in America.
