Collect two ornaments honoring the thirty-third president of the United States, Harry S. Truman. The set includes the Official 2018 White House Historical Ornament featuring the Truman Balcony, that was added to the South Portico in 1947-1948. The reverse side of the ornament features the Blue Room after the extensive renovation of the White House during the Truman Administration. Harry Truman had been Vice President for just 82 days when Franklin D. Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945. A World War I veteran, he assumed the presidency during the waning months of World War II and the beginning of the Cold War. He is known for implementing the Marshall Plan to rebuild the economy of Western Europe, for establishing the Truman Doctrine and NATO against Soviet and Chinese Communism, and for intervening in the Korean War. The companion ornament features the "Man from Independence" and is part of the American Presidents Ornament Collection. Both ornaments are made in the USA.
