The Official 1982 Christmas card of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan - The Red Room. Mrs. Reagan's favorite color was red and she had many fold memories in the Red Room including having tea with Raisa Gorbachev. For Christmas, Mrs. Reagan wanted to showcase the White House. She invited James Steinmeyer, noted for interior renderings, to paint the room for their Christmas card. Taking detailed photographs, the artist focused on the fireplace and meticulously documented the room. He added a holiday touch by placing magnolia leaves in vases and evergreens and pomegranates on the mantel. Nancy Reagan was very
pleased with the rendering. Gibson Greeting Cards reproduced 65000 cards and 6000 gift prints, adding the sentiment: "With all best wishes for a joyous Christmas and a peaceful New Year from the President and Mrs. Reagan 1982."
