The Capitol Dome is recognized throughout the world as a symbol of our people and our democratic institutions. This beautiful ornament is created from 24 kt gold framing and historic marble from the original 1863-65Capitol Steps, removed during 1995 Capitol improvements. The marble is ground into a fine powder and combined with resin to form the classic shapes inspired by the classic Capitol architectural elements.

This is a beautiful ornament! One of my Christmas trees is decorated with patriotic ornaments, including the whole set honoring each of the Presidents. I’ve added additional ones to honor the branches of the military, along with other patriotic ones. This ornament is a wonderful addition to my collection. I especially love the history of the ornament—made with powder from crushed marble when the White House was renovated. It will look great on my tree. I am planning to purchase an additional one for a friend.
